From: Mary Date: January 2002 Title: Summer weekend at Maggie's Author: Mary Rating: G Category: MSR, H (completely sap!) Spoilers: None Summary: The Mulders enjoy the last day of the weekend at Maggie's. Disclaimer: Fox Mulder and Dana Scully belong to CC. Notes: This piece of heaven came to my mind while sunbathing during a beautiful weekend. I've always wanted to write something like this, completely sap and mushy. as regards Charlie, this is the way I imagine him to be. I hope you like my version of the youngest Scully. Finally, you'll find a one and a half year old William in this story too. Will's antics were ispired by my own nephews and nieces who are roughly the same age. Believe me! I know what I'm writing about kids. Enjoy! PS: I loveeeeeeeee feedback! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Maggie Scully's house Sunday 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning found Scully still suffering from a headache. Mulder had been up for half an hour when he heard the baby whimpering in his crib. "Hey, Champ? Want your bottle?" "Botty!" Will kept on whimpering. "Let's go downstairs and let mommy sleep a little bit more, ok?" He picked him up and headed for the kitchen where he found Maggie making breakfast. "Morning Fox, morning sweety." She gave him a kiss. "Morning Maggie. How long have you been up?" "I woke up at half past six." "You wake up even earlier than me." She chuckled. "I'm used to." "I'm gonna take Scully's breakfast upstairs. I think she still has a slight headache so I'm gonna pamper her a little." He smiled. "You are a wonderful man, Fox Mulder." That compliment and the kiss she gave him afterwards left him red with embarrassment. She refrained from elaborating lest he felt even more embarrassed. "So, what are you planning to make?" "Actually, I don't know." "What about French toast with homemade jam and fresh strawberry juice?" "I think she's gonna love that. And so is Will for that matter." He got everything ready and set it on a wooden tray together with a bunch of jasmines. He held Will up and took the tray in his right hand. When he got to the bedroom, he deposited his son on the bed and told him to give his mommy a kiss in order to wake her up. He marveled at the child's delicate movements as he had been instructed to be quiet due to her mom's headache. "Mmmmmm...What a nice way to wake up!" Scully commented. "Momma, Me wuv you momma. Ouchie bye, bye?" He was caressing her hair with such care that she felt her eyes welling up. "Oh, Mulder, don't we have the sweetest baby in the world?" "Yes, Sweetheart. He takes after the sweetest mommy in the world." He lay beside her and kissed her softy on the lips. "I love you." "I love you more." He wiped a tear from the corner of her eye with his thumb. "And I love you too, baby." She gave him a sloppy kiss on his puckered lips too. "You brought me breakfast?" "Yeah. Today is breakfast in bed for the Mulders." "Let's eat then." After finishing breakfast they changed into Sunday clothes. They were going to morning Mass. They were about to leave when Scully asked. "Mom, where's Charlie?" "He's still sleeping. He came in late last night so he told me he was going to Mass at night." She shrugged her shoulders. "OK. Let's go then." Coming back from church Will asked his mommy for some music. "Mommy, wan lalala." "You want to sing, baby?" "He means a tape Scully, not you." He mocked her wife and he received another slap for that. "I'm joking, Skull. I love your voice and I'm sure Willster loves it too, right kiddo?" Maggie giggled in the back seat. "Mommy niceeeee." The little boy spoke in a singsong, rest his left cheek on his shoulder and smiled angelically. "See, he loves it." Scully couldn't help smiling at his son's antics. "Mulder, we need more diapers. Are we going to stop at the supermarket now or we drop Mom on the way home first?" "Maggie, what do you prefer?" Her son-in-law was always polite. "If you don't mind, I'm gonna take advantage and finish some things I have to do at home. Would it be a problem if I asked you to bring me some things while you are at it too?" "No, Mom. No problem at all." "Are you planning to take Will with you?" "What do you say Will? Do you want to stay with Nana or do you want to come with us?" Mulder already knew what his son's answer was going to be. "No, momma dada." They dropped Maggie off and headed for the closest supermarket. When they got there they put Will inside a shopping cart and went in search of the items in need. They ended quite fast and reached the cashier that was designated for few items only. Will had to give in and hand his dad his chocolate cookies to be rung up. Finally they left, the little boy carrying a new video of Winnie-The-Pooh to add to his increasing collection. "Mulder, we have to stop doing this." A small smile tugging at her lips. "Doing what?" He asked curiously. "Buying him stuff whenever we go shopping. We're going to spoil him." "Scully, he's our miracle. We are entitled to." "Maybe. But when he gets spoiled you get to scold him." "May I remind you whose idea was it to buy him that video?" She looked at him shamefully trying to find an excuse. "It was a bargain, Mulder." "Sure, Fine, Whatever." They reached the house in twenty minutes. Five more than they used to due to their son's insistence on passing over the park. They unlocked the door and came in, Will in tow. "Whose idea was it this time?" "It was just a drive across the park, Scully." "Anyway, It falls in the category of spoiling." "It's a tie, Sis. You both spoil him rotten." Charlie appeared in the living room still in his boxer shorts and a sleepy face. "Charlie, go get dressed. You are incorrigible." "All right, Ma. But make some breakfast for me, will you?" "Charlie, it's almost noon." Maggie sighed. "So whaaaaaaaaat?" He yawned and disappeared. Mulder and Scully put all the items in the refrigerator and in the pantry. "Mulder, go check what Will's doing. He's been quiet for sometime and you know what that means." "Yeah, nothing good probably." What he saw when he reached their bedroom left his mouth hanging open. Will had taken Scully's underwear and his and now they lay scattered on the floor. He was using one of Scully's bras as a makeshift sling for his blocks. He had not yet seen his dad so when Mulder burst out laughing, the little boy got quite a scare and began crying in earnest. "Scully, c'mere! You gotta see this!" He was getting out of breath. Scully came in a flash, fearing the worst. "Wha...what is it? Is Will all right?" She was also out of breath but it was out of fear something had happened to Will. "Oh, yeah. Look." The whole room looked like Charlie's in its worst moments. "My, Son! What were you doing?! And why is he crying, Mulder?" She stooped to the child's level and picked him up. "He got scared when he heard me 'cause he hadn't seen me coming." He was trying to get his laughter under control. "Shhhh. It's ok. Shhhh. Daddy didn't mean to scare you, sweety." Will was hiccuping now while she was surveying the damage to their clothes. Actually, he hadn't ruined them. They were just strewn all over the place. "Baby, can you tell mommy what you were trying to do?" "wan biky." "You want your binky?" Will managed to give a small nod. "Sweetheart, you know that if you want something you have to ask mom or dad. You don't make a mess out of everything." "Scully, I think that comes in the package when you have a kid. Anyway, It's been a long time since the last time you asked for your binky. What's with it now, Will?" The baby kept rubbing his hair with one hand and his mom's ear with the other as he always did whenever he was sleepy. "I think Mom has one somewhere around. Could you...?" In that moment Maggie appeared in the hall. When she saw the mess she couldn't contain a gasp. "Oh, my! What hurricane hit this room?" "Hurricane William." "Is he ok? I was outside when I heard Fox's hollering." "Yeah, He just got scared when he heard me." "Who wouldn't." Charlie muttered humorously when passing by his sister's bedroom. "Mom, do you happen to have a pacifier around?" "Sure, sweety. But I thought he didn't use it any longer." "Yeah, we thought so too." Scully and her mom went in search of the baby's pacifier. Mulder changed into his swimming trunks and joined Charlie in the pool. Ten minutes later she emerged from the house carrying some towels. He found her husband and her brother doing some ridiculous dance at the edge of the pool before diving headfirst and engaging in a swimming race. "Hey you two! I brought you some towels. Don't forget to dry yourselves before coming in." "Sure, Moooom." They both replied and went on racing oblivious to the way they were splashing all around, she herself included. She went back in and began making lunch with the help of her mom. "What are you going to make for Will, sweetheart?" "I was thinking about boiling some vegetables; carrots, potatoes, a little bit of everything, you know. Well, except broccoli. He simply hates it." "I don't know who he got that from." She faked ignorance. "Oh well, I didn't want to say anything but Mulder hates them too." They both chuckled. That's how Mulder found them when he opened the door to the kitchen. "Did I hear my name being mentioned?" "Yeah. I was just saying how wonderful you are." She kissed him on the lips and resumed her cooking. "I already knew that." He turned around and went upstairs where he got changed into shorts and sneakers. He reappeared barechested, basketball in hand. "Hey, Scull. I'm gonna shoot some hoops with Charlie in Patrick's house." "You can play here too, if you like." Maggie suggested. "Nah, don't wanna wake Will up. Thanks anyway." Scully flashed him a smiled that was only reserved for him, which he fully returned. Some time later they got back all sweaty from exercising under a scorching heat. Scully met them at the door. "Did you have a good time?" Kiss. "Yeah." He pretended to be strong in front of his wife but actually he ached all over. His ego had been badly bruised. He needn't have put up a front for his wife 'cause she could read him like a book. "You're pushing forty, stud. It's natural." "Aaaaarghhh...They beat the sh...sorry, the poopy out of me." He was whining like a kid. "Poor baby. Now, go get a bath. Lunch is gonna be ready any minute now." Kiss. "You too, Charlie. And get your feet off the coffee table!" Maggie admonished her son who was sprawled on the sofa. Both men complied grudgingly. Lunch went on smoothly. Will was extremely quiet till he dropped his Jell-O bowl on the floor. "Will, son, pay attention when you eat, please." Scully wiped the floor, took the spoon he was holding and fed him herself. "There. Now you can get down and play." "All done, all done." At first, he contented himself with walking around the kitchen watching his family eat and chat. However, as the grown ups didn't seem to be finishing any time soon, he let himself out through the kitchen door. "Mulder, I'm gonna check on Will." "It's ok. I'll do it." "No, you just finish the pudding. I've already finished mine anyway." She stayed outside just long enough to make sure her son was safe and went back inside. "What was he doing?" Her husband wanted to know. "He's so cute. He was sitting on the grass showing Teetee his new books, the ones mom gave him last month." They shared a sweet smile. Suddenly they heard the loud, unmistakable sound of a dog barking. A big dog. Their son's cry made them rush out. Will was running around trying to get away from a black German Shepherd who was chasing him relentlessly. The little boy's fear prevented him from noticing the dog's only intention: he just wanted to play. When he saw his parents he dashed toward them, dog in tow. His dad found him midway and held him while he went on wailing. "Shhhh. It's ok." He gave the dog a strong slap to make him leave and stop tormenting his son but it wouldn't budge an inch. "Where the heck did you come from?" Scully took him by the collar with the intention of dragging him to the front door. "It's the Henderson's dog, Dana. They bought him a little while ago. He's just a pup." "Yeah, well. They should take better care of the animal!" She couldn't understand people's carelessness and that pissed her off, specially when it concerned her family. "Honey, the pup was just playing." Her mother tried to soothe her. "Mom, look at the size of him. He could've crashed Will easily or bitten him for that matter! I'm gonna have a serious talk with its owners. Come on, move!" The situation was becoming funnier, which made the atmosphere less tense. However hard she pushed, Scully coudn't make him move. It was understandable, the beast was enormous and in comparison, she looked like a kid dragging a cow. Mulder wasn't able to contain his laughter any longer. Maggie and Charlie followed. "Scully, Hon, look at you!" She was red in the face and panting and she was still holding the dog's leash in her hand. Finally she gave in and smiled too. "Fine! Don't move." She shouted in the dog's face. No sooner had she said that than the animal made a mad escape through a hole in Maggie's lovely hedge. "That's how he got in, in the first place." After the incident Charlie and Maggie headed back inside. Husband and wife cuddled together in one of Maggie's lounge chairs checking Will once in a while, who was sitting by his side playing with his toys. Scully put her arms around Mulder's neck and kissed his lips. "Mmmmmmmm. I love the velvety texture of your lips. So smooth." Kiss. "Mmmmmmm, yours too baby. Yours too." Long, deep kiss. "Whose pouty mouth is that?" Kiss "Yours." He asked his son the same. "Whose mouth is that?" "Dada." "Good. And whose eyes are those?" "Dada." This was a little game the three of them had. "And whose tummy is that?" This time he tickled him on his stomach, which made Will squirm and giggle. Mulder lifted him and placed him on his own tummy. Scully lay on his left side, half her body on top of him. "And who does this little boy belong to?" "Dadaaaa..." He pointed to his dad. "And mommy, who does mommy belong to?" "Dadaaaaa..." "Very good, son. You've learnt the most important lesson in life." "We've been branded for life, Will." Scully observed. "Let's show dad how much we love him. How much do you love dad, Will?" The little boy opened his arms as wide as he could and smiled proudly, almost as much as his parents. "You love me that much, baby?" He nodded. "Ahhhh, I love you even more, Will. You and mommy. So much more that I feel the luckiest guy in the world. I feel blessed. You and Will are everything I need and everything I want." The last part was addressed to his wife who regarded him with pure adoration. "Ditto, Mulder." That was the only thing she managed to say in spite of the knot in her throat. "Do you have any regrets?" He asked her seriously. "I wouldn't want it any other way. As long as you can admit to the same." "I've always belonged to you, Scully. Since day one." They shared a profound look that ended when Will lay his head in between them. The weekend was quickly coming to an end. The sun was setting slowly, casting hues of orange and gold over the house and its surroundings. It was the perfect time to take some pictures. Speaking of which, it gave Maggie a wonderful opportunity to show Mulder and Will some of the Scullys as kids. They were all gathered around the big couch relishing Will's unexpected reactions. "Yes, Will. Believe it or not that's Mom." "Naaaa..." He refused to believe his mom had once been as young as himself. "Yes, sweety. It's me." "No, ish gil." "I don't know if you've noticed yet, but your mom IS a girl, Willy boy." Mulder winked at Scully. "No! Ish Momma!" He jumped off the couch and ran to the kitchen were he had spied his uncle. "Oh, Scully. These ones I want to see." When Scully saw which pictures he meant she made a mad dash to get them but he held the album over her head. "How immature of you, Mulder." She mumbled. "Did you say something, Scully?" He loved teasing her almost as much as she loved his banter and innuendo. "Go ahead, look. Have fun. Anyway, there's nothing you haven't seen about me." "I hope so." He was only joking. Will came back with a cookie in his hand. "Who gave you that, Will?" Scully looked suspiciously at his brother. "LeeLee." "I knew it!" He gave him an accusatory look. "OK, Will. But only one. We are gonna have supper now." "Hey, Will, wanna see an extraterrestrial momma?" He showed him a picture of a twelve year old Scully dressed all in green and even wearing a green wig. "That was for Saint Patrick." "No, really?" He kissed her below her ear where he knew she was extremely ticklish. "Aaah...Mulder stop! Hahahahahaha..." Will couldn't stop giggling and clapping. "Hey! There's more for you too!!!" His daddy tickled him mercilessly too. "Kids, dinner's ready!" Maggie shouted from the kitchen. They sat down to enjoy their last meal together. Charlie was on duty as from next week so they knew they would see him in no less than three months. They decided to watch some TV after supper. They agreed on a basketball match. Well, Mulder and Charlie agreed. Will managed to fall asleep even with the shouts coming from the speakers and the men's remarks. By the end of the game, Scully had joined her son in sweet slumber. "I think you better take them home, Fox. You both have to wake up early tomorrow and you have a long trip ahead of you tonight." Actually, it was only a forty-five minute trip but judging by the way he looked, his son-in-law was quite tired. "Yeah, I think I'd better." He was about to wake Scully up when he thought better of it. "Maggie, could you do me a favor? I'm gonna fetch the bags and put them in the car. Could you pick up the baby? I don't want to wake her up." He mentioned pointing to Scully. "And what are you planning to do? Carry her to the car?" She had made that comment in jest but seeing Mulder's real intention, she realized he meant to do exactly that. "Why not? She weighs next to nothing and, besides, she didn't sleep well last night. Anyway, we both know how grumpy she gets when she doesn't get her regular eight hours of sleep." They shared a knowing look. After depositing both Will and Scully with the utmost care in the car, he checked they were safely buckled in. "I think I'm not forgetting anything. Well, bye Maggie. Thank you for everything." He kissed her cheek. "It's always a pleasure to have you all here. Drive safely." "I will. Bye, Charlie." "Bye, Mulder." They shook hands. "Send an email and tell me all about your weeding." He raised his hands to show he was joking. After that, he got in the car and drove off thanking God for his most valuable treasure: his family. THE END (All done. Bye, Bye.) Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx That's it. I hope you enjoyed it. There'll be more adventures with the Mulder's family in the near future. I'm looking foward to receiving your comments!
